[Reprint]Realizing 100% renewable energy of electricity used at Soma Plant

Realizing 100% renewable energy of electricity used at Soma Plant|What’s New|ADEKA

ADEKA introduced a FIT non-fossil energy certificate*1 equivalent to the amount of electricity used in FY2023 at Soma Plant. As a result, 100% of the electricity used at the above sites was effectively renewable.
Reduced GHG emissions due to the introduction of renewable energy-derived electricity was approximately 2,000t-CO2e*2.

As a result, in FY2023, 10 domestic sites (Head Office, Osaka Main Branch, Nagoya Branch, Fukuoka Branch, Sapporo Regional Office, Sendai Regional Office, Tokyo R&D Center, Urawa R&D Center, Kuki R&D Center, Soma Plant) that have introduced a FIT non-fossil energy certificate achieved 100% renewable electricity use.
Reduced GHG emissions due to the introduction of renewable energy-derived electricity at 10 domestic sites was approximately 6,100t-CO2e.

In the Carbon Neutral Roadmap, ADEKA Group aims to reduce GHG emissions by 46% in 2030 (compared to 2013) and 2050 to achieve carbon neutrality. The introduction of renewable energy-derived electricity is part of our efforts toward this goal.
”The ADEKA SAKURA-LUBE series” of lubricants produced at Soma Plant are widely used in automobile engine oils and other applications, contributing to improved fuel efficiency.
In addition to reducing GHG emissions from business activities, we will also work to reduce GHG emissions throughout the supply chain.

*1 FIT Non-fossil energy certificate : Certificates of environmental value of renewables purchased through feed-in tariffs (Feed-in Tariff).
*2 CO2e:A unit for indicating different GHG emissions in a uniform manner by converting them into CO2 equivalent amounts.
