From August 8th to 10th, Hubert Fink, a member of the Lanxess Management Board, visited China. This is the first trip of management board members to China since the COVID-19 epidemic. Feng Hubo visited the Lanxess Ningbo production base, Shanghai headquarters office, and the Asia Pacific Application Development Center (AADC) located in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park.

Visit AADC to see the Lanxess innovative power engine

As the first board member to visit the AADC application development center in the Asia Pacific region after its completion, Feng Hubo visited multiple laboratories in the Polymer Additives, Lubricant Additives, Polyurethane Systems, and Material Protection Products business departments during this trip.

In June 2021, in order to better meet the ever-changing needs of customers in the Asia Pacific region, Lanxess AADC was officially launched, becoming the first operational project of the Shanghai International Chemical New Materials Innovation Center. The center has greatly improved the company’s local innovation capability and integrated the R&D capabilities of multiple business departments, bringing more powerful technical support to customers and creating more sustainable business value. Through AADC, Lanxess is based in Shanghai and provides innovative and sustainable solutions for China and even Asia.

Emphasize the importance of the Chinese market and discuss sustainable development together

Feng Hubo’s next stop is his first visit to the Ningbo factory. Lanxess Ningbo Factory is a subsidiary of Lanxess Inorganic Pigments Business Unit, which is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of inorganic pigments.

In 2018, the Lanxess Ningbo factory was awarded the “National Green Factory” certification by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China. Thanks to the innovative “Ningbo process”, the Lanxess Ningbo factory is also able to recycle and process all by-products. In the production process, the optimization of production processes greatly reduces the amount of laughing gas and nitrogen oxides in the production process. With this highly energy-efficient process, the Ningbo factory has also been successfully selected for the 2021 “waste free factory” construction list announced by Ningbo City in May 2022. In addition, the Ningbo factory was also selected as a “water-saving enterprise in Zhejiang Province” in April 2023, setting a benchmark for sustainable development in the industry.

During this period, Feng Hubo also held discussions and exchanges with the leaders of Ningbo Petrochemical District to discuss sustainable development.

At present, China has become the world’s largest chemical market, accounting for 40% of all global chemical sales, and it is expected to account for nearly half by 2030.

Feng Hubo emphasized the importance of the Chinese market and that China will continue to play an important role in the chemical industry. This visit to China demonstrates that the board of directors of Lanxess attaches great importance to the Chinese market, as well as to innovative research and development, and green and sustainable development.
